What is Necromancy?

Necromancy is the branch of magic that deals with the raising of the dead. It is a branch of magic under the Dark Arts, which means that this magic is often associated with harming or injuring other people for the benefit of the user. It was said to be "a branch of magic that has never worked" according to Mr. Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, former Headmaster of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. However, is it not sure if Mr. Dumbledore is telling the truth because some creatures that may have been product of necromancy can be seen.

Known Creatures of Necromancy

Creatures made from necromancy can include the Inferi, which are reanimated corpses made to do their master’s bidding. However, it is sometimes argued that Inferi are not creatures from necromancy because they don’t retain their human intelligence. Putting Inferi aside however, there can be zombies or other undead creatures which can be called creatures of Necromancy.
