"S" Words

This is for words starting with "S"

Sectumsempra:

Sectumsempra was created by Severus Snape during his school years at Hogwarts. Harry Potter found it in a potions book during his sixth year at Hogwarts. The book (Advanced Potion Making by Libatius Borage), was the old school book of The Half-Blood Prince who was later turned out to be Severus Snape. In the book the spell appeared as a spell for enemies.

Severus Snape himself used the spell at least twice. Once while at school against James Potter who luckily escaped with just a cut on his cheek due to Snape’s non-verbal use of the spell and his poor aim and once during the Battle over Little Whinging when he attempted to stop a Death Eater from cursing Remus Lupin, unfortunately the spell missed and severed off George Weasley’s ear.

Harry Potter used it against Draco Malfoy in a bathroom at Hogwarts almost killing Draco. Harry again used it uselessly against the inferi in the cave. He then attempted to use it against Severus Snape who blocked it.

The only other known usage was by Voldemort against Severus Snape when Voldemort thought that Snape was the master of the elder wand.

The spell itself creates blade slashes on the victim’s body.  It appears that the wounds on the victim appear in the direction that the caster moves his wand causing multiple cuts in that direction. A known cure for wounds caused by Sectumsempra is Vulnera Sanentur. If the wounds produced by Sectumsempra are severe, it may take up to three castings of Vulnera Sanentur to heal the victim adequately.

Spell Hierarchy:

The Hierarchy of Spells is a pyramid that places three groups of Dark Arts spells, in their order of power, danger and evilness.

Jinxes are at the base, curses are at the top and hexes are in-between.

Jinxes are the least powerful spells, with the level of danger, and evilness increasing, as you move up the Spell Hierarchy. Also, when you moved up the Spell Hierarchy, the spells become less reversible and last for a longer period of time.

The Unforgivable Curses are the most powerful Dark Spells to exist.

1.Jinxes: This is one of the seven known spell types.  It is a group of spells that may be taught in Defense Against the Dark Arts since they can be used as a method of self-defense but it is usually associated with the Dark Arts and not with fighting against them.  These types of spells are usually less harmful and are used for practical jokes at the expense of others while causing minor discomfort to the victim. Jinxes can be removed by a Counter-Jinx and can be prevented by an Anti-Jinx.

2.Hexes:  This is one of the seven known spell types. It is a form of Dark Magic and these spells are worse than jinxes but not as bad as curses. They cause a moderate amount of pain to the victim and can rarely be used, in a good way, for self-defense. These spells are not taught at school but the students are taught to defend themselves against them, using defensive magic, for their own self protection.

3.Curses:   This is one of the seven known spell types. It is the most powerful form of Dark Magic and is used for causing great pain and harm to their victims. These spells can be used to control you or even worse, to cause death. They are the ultimate form of evil and are not taught at school but the students are taught to defend themselves against them, using defensive magic, for their own self protection. Most of these curses may be blocked by using a Counter-Curse.
